GA4 Already Has the Answer: Launch Labs at Claude for Dealers

Launch Labs CEO Garrett Roach and CRO Mike Morgan led a hands-on session at Claude for Dealers, where attendees connected their own GA4 data to Claude and built a marketing analyst for dealership-specific questions and recurring reports.

The data behind many dealership marketing questions is already sitting in GA4. Getting a useful answer out of it is the harder part.

Launch Labs CEO Garrett Roach and CRO Mike Morgan ran a hands-on session titled "Build a Marketing Analyst Agent on Your ASC Data" at Claude for Dealers in Atlanta. Attendees connected their own Google Analytics accounts, queried them live, and scheduled recurring reports like a weekly look at top vehicle pages by source.

Two things from the session are worth knowing before you try this yourself.

An MCP gives Claude a usable path into the data

APIs have let software systems exchange data for decades. But access to an API doesn't tell a model which data to retrieve, how dealership events are defined, or which report answers a given marketing question.

An MCP server is what makes that connection usable for Claude. It exposes specific tools along with the definitions and instructions needed to use them, so the model can pick the one that fits the question in front of it. The connector built for this session pairs the GA4 API with the current ASC specification and the questions dealers actually ask, which is what lets someone ask which landing pages perform best for paid traffic instead of building the report by hand.

The hard part is supplying business context

An attendee asked what it takes to build something similar for another system. The first requirement is access to that system's data, usually through an API. From there Claude can help with much of the build, but the quality of the result depends on the context it's given.

API documentation explains what a system can do. It doesn't explain which metrics matter to your business, how your team defines performance, or which combinations of data answer a question worth asking. That context is what shapes the tools the connector exposes and the instructions Claude uses to choose between them. Garrett's framing was that once you and Claude agree on what you're building and why, the rest is largely authentication, though permissions and testing still have to be worked through.

Try the prompts yourself

The connector from the workshop is available through FocalGraph Signal, so you can use the same approach with your own GA4 data. Create a free account, add it to Claude in your connector settings, and paste in the exact prompts the session used:

  • Which source is driving the most traffic?
  • Which landing pages perform best for paid traffic?
  • Which campaigns are driving shoppers deeper into the website?
